What Are The Skills?

On this forum, we use 5 main skills:


  • Strength
  • Endurance
  • Speed
  • Knowledge
  • Senses



In this guide, each skill will be explained, and the classes they most pertain to will be shown.

STRENGTH: This skill is most important for Warriors, Guardians, Sentries, and Trappers.

Strength is your character's physical power, their capacity to lift and move things, and their ability to support force/weight. Stronger characters tend to weigh more in muscle than weaker ones do, and a stronger character can put in more force against a prey or predator animal, or against another wolf. This shouldn't have to be explained much.

ENDURANCE: This skill is most important for Messengers, Guardians, Runners, Trappers, and Warriors.

Endurance is your character's ability to endure, obviously, and is also your character's stamina. It's how long your character can last climbing Mt. Bereavement, or in a fight, or in a hunt, or doing any particularly strenuous activity. It is related to strength, but is not quite strength. It relates to your energy bar and influences how quickly it goes down when hunting or fighting or performing any other stamina-draining activity.

For example, a character with high endurance will run out of stamina much later when climbing Mt. Bereavement than a character with low endurance will. (Every post involving action in Mt. Bereavement drains energy.)

A character with low endurance will tire faster in a fight than a character with high endurance.

SPEED: This skill is most important for Messengers, Patrols, Runners, and Sentries.

Speed is how fast your character can move. Your character is more likely to be able to slow down prey for slower hunters if they are fast, and they will also be more able to travel across long distances quicker (as needed by those considered Scouts). While a character with high endurance can last longer, a character with high speed is more likely to be able to finish things quicker. Speed is useful in a fight, as your character will be more able to dodge attacks in time if he or she is fast.

KNOWLEDGE: This skill is most important for Healers, Herbalists, and Trackers.

Knowledge is your character's intelligence as well as his or her experience. An older character will have more knowledge than a pup. A character with high knowledge will be able to identify more things than a character with low knowledge.

Example: a character with low knowledge may find a plant, but will have no idea what it is and be completely unable to identify it safely. A character with high knowledge will more likely know what it is and will be able to identify it safely.

Knowledge is easily gained, however. Learning new things and getting older raises knowledge by a few points.

Knowledge also relates to your character's strategies when hunting or fighting. A character with high knowledge will use better and more affective strategies than a character with low knowledge.

SENSES: This skill is most important for Trackers, Sentries, Herbalists, and Patrols.

Senses is how acute your character's senses are. Senses is important for certain ranks so that they more easily find things, such as prey, or things for the healers to use, or sometimes enemies. A character with low senses will have a harder time finding any certain thing than a character with high senses.
